Now that we've established the adventure loot system as something everyone seems to enjoy, Nick and I have devised a skill to expand upon it. Named Treasure Hunter, each rank allows a character to draw an additional treasure tag when receiving adventure loot and choose his or her loot from among all of the tags drawn. A 5th-level character with Treasure Hunter (Rank 3), for example, would draw five tags and keep two. Essentially, it doesn't give you more treasure; it just gives you better odds of getting treasure you like.
The mechanic passes a number of tests. It's simple, balanced, scalable, and fun. More importantly, it gives treasure seeking characters a way to do what they want without adversely affecting anyone else's game experience.
That being said, I'm interested in hearing some feedback before we put it out into the wild. What are everyone's thoughts? Is it broken in some way? Are there other skills that we might include to expand upon the adventure loot system?
Alright, the Treasure Hunter skill is now approved for general use. Rogues have moderate affinity, while Alchemists, Bards, Gnomes, Humans, and Uordeq have weak affinity.
For those who may have taken note, between this and the Initiative skill, there's now a bit of a disparity between classes and races as far as the number of skill affinities available. I'm aware of this and plan to rectify it by creating new skills for the non-roguish sorts to balance things out later on.
i think that would be awsome and better for people to choose and obtain gear
