The town was dead quiet in the night, the hour late for even those that would stumble about and hold to their liquor. Softly padded foot falls fell on the dewed leaves which littered the pathway down to the lake, masking much of the noise the warlock would make as she made her way down to the water's edge. All energy in her step was gone, and each foot fall merely followed the action required to move forward, nothing more. There was no purpose, nor drive in her stride, merely the act of motion. She finally reached the waters edge, and utterly deadened features framed equally dead eyes as they settled on the water's placid surface. She took in one slow, long breath, and let the weight of her lungs press it out once more.
She stood there in the still of the night for a long, long while, motionless. Her features were drawn heavy about her fame, her deadened gaze portraying an empty sorrow which no words would quiet be able to recount. At long last her gaze finally shifted to the blackblade which always rested at her hip. Her palm, even now, rested upon its hilt, finding home along it's well worn pommel. Slowly she drew the blade, the edgings of the viciously sharp metal just barely catching the glint of the dull silvers of moonlight which filtered through the humid night air.
She held the blade then in front of her, staring down its its depths as it rested upon both her upturned palms. Delicate fingers gently wrapped around its deadly lines, grasping it lightly as her eyes closed. In a slow, lifeless, yet fluid motion, the tip of the blade turned downward as Akon forced it into the ground, the pommel now standing as a cross silhouetted against the water's surface. Akon sunk to her knee, kneeling now with both palms holding fast to either arm of the hilt of her blade, and her forehead bowed to meet the flat of the metal's surface.
Her hold on the pommel's arms then tightened, as her shoulders tensed, and the ever so slight sound of a tear filled choke escaped her. Stuttered and muffled sounds of sorrow followed as her grasp held fast to the solid blackblade. Crystalline drops leaked then from her shut lids as her other knee slipped the ground and head continued to press against the blade's flat surface. And as such, she remained, hunched before the deadly steal that always rested at her side, muffled sobs and chokes intermittently escaping her huddled form.
Akon's eyes close tighter are the sound of company, and her form went ridgid as the arms wrapped around her. She took in another deep breath and sighed, "I'd rather just be left alone for the moment, Miss Glimmer." She said quietly, her Uordeq accent no longer masked and coming through clearly on her tongue.
Glimmer looks at the sulking warlock again and says "But I don't know where to go. I don't want to be alone, but Murray wouldn't leave me alone and I wanted to stay a Unicorn." At that statement, Glimmer bursts into tears, creating the sound of a whaling siren. She begins to hicupp and snort, before settling back down. 'I'm sorry, I just....I really wanted to be a Unicorn. Whyare you sad, Akon? You don't ever cry. Like, ever." Glimmer reaches out, wiping the tears away from the Warlock's face, then looks at the tears on her hands, ensuring they aren't icy to the touch.
Akon quieted for another long moment, seeming to tuck patience in with her tears, having halted her crying as soon as the fae had flittled down to her. "Betrayal." Was the only word which she responded back with, shifting a bit with her shoulders, letting the fae touch her face, though her features had been tucked away back into a stoic wall.
The sound of light footsteps in the grass would reach the warlock as Binx passed by Akon and Glimmer in the darkness. She spoke not a word, kneeling down by the waters edge with her back to them. She pulled down her mask and the trickling of water through her fingers could be heard-it seemed that she was washing her face. Finally standing and pulling her mask back over her pale features, she turned to face the two women, still not speaking. She crossed her arms, shifting her weight to one foot- the Uordeq seemed completely apathetic to the scene, almost irritated.
Glimmer nods at Binx, while wiping her own tears away. She pats the ground beside her and sets a special flask out, hoping the other scoutt will join them, before turning her attention back to Akon. "Who betrayed you? I know all about betrayal! Like everytime Uncle Wreynn says he'll give me candy but makes me clean his cabin first and make his food and tea and....blech. I love candy though. But why are betraying someone and crying over it?"
Akon shot a glance up at Binx, eyes already having been tempered back into their stoic gaze, and some heat rising in them. "It no matter, Glimmer." Akon's tone came back, the harsh undertones returning to her voice as they often did. "And I was not the betrayor, as shocking at that may be." She mocked.
Binx remained unmoving, giving Glimmer a nod of acknowledgement for her kind gesture. A glint in her yellow eyes accompanied the snicker behind her mask, finally moving after Akon's comment. She kneeled, removing her mask entirely for once with one hand and picking up and opening the flask with the other. After a sniff, she took a long drink. "Quite the quarrel with Jael." She informed Glimmer nonchalantly, wiping her lips somewhat daintily in the dark. She wore a shameless smirk. "I am...sorry you did not get to be a unicorn." She told the fae.
Glimmer looks to Binx and says "Well thank you. At least you understand my desperation here." Glimmer eyes Akon, and says softly "I know you are upset. And I don't know why, but I can listen really goods I can I swear. But I kind of would really like it if you got your sword out of the ground because there might be a mound there, or might have been at some point, and like....it's sacred because it's earth and I just...I can't be a unicorn, Akon."
Binx watched as the warlock stood, meeting her eyes without hesitation. Her smirk faded to a heavy look that no Uordeq could mistake. Those from the Shadelands knew the look of another Uordeq's judgement after seeing such a blatant weakness. However, she raised an eyebrow as if the slight change in her stern expression would offer some encouragement.
A rather large shape of an owl flew overhead, the sound of rushing wind following it. It glided over the lake and, noticing the figures on the shore, turned sharply to investigate who they were. With keen eyes he sees their faces.
Cail flies back over them and transforms into a smaller owl, his leaflike feathers catching the moonlight and reflecting a slight sheen. He lands in a tree relatively close to the party and watches them, listening to what they might say.
Glimmer giggles as Snowball settles beside she and Akon, and feeds him the last bits of squirrel she has left with her. She bends down and whispers "Binx is ok, buddy. She's working on it." Glimmer looks between the two Uordeq females and says 'Listen ladies. This isn't a racial contest at who can stare harder. Let's just all settle down."
Binx's gaze did not falter until Cail swooped by, eyes following the owl with straight-lipped irritation. She did not turn to watch Snowball approach, listening instead. She did manage to successfully stifle the urge to hiss back at her guildmate, settling for a swig from the flask as Glimmer spoke in her favor. "You would be surprised at who fancies themselves creatures of the night in this town." She answered through her fingers as she wiped her mouth.
Glimmer, seeming quite overwhelmed by the closeness of Binx, turns and faces her, licks her cheek, and then falls over into a fit of giggles. As Akon whispers, Glimmer says "Aye. I'll let you know." Glimmer then turns back to Binx and says "We must work on your flavor. You taste nothing of cookies. More like....cold?" Glimmer then returns the whisper, while stuffing a cookie into Binx's mouth, knocking her to the ground.
Instead of trying to get back up, Binx settled for resting on her back and elbows in the grass. She wrinkled her nose, biting the cookie in half and spitting out the pieces. "If I did taste of cookies, that might have been a sort of cannibalism." She remarked in mostly mock irritation, nodding towards the fallen morsel.
Glimmer giggles at Binx until she spits the cookie out as a sheer look of terror spreads across her face. Her nose begins to twitch and she hiccups numerous times before licking every last crumb to be found away. She then leans back to the Uordeq and whispers a response.
Glimmer comes flitting up the road, seemingly half irate and muttering about Taklinn not having boobs anymore and how itchy it is to be a tiger. She sees Akon ahead and hears the muffled cry. Glimmer stops in her tracks, looks around, semmingly uncomfrotable at the sight of a crying warlock. Unsure of how to handle the situation, she adjusts her tutu, walks up to the warlock, and plops down beside her.
Once she's settled into her plop, she looks at Akon, and suddenly grabs her into a massive hug. Pulling the warlock close, she hugs her tightly. After several uncomfrotable seconds, Glimmer releases Akon and says "All the world's a stage, my dear. Let's drink in our sorrows and have cookies. I'm sad too. Let's have a chat."
Glimmer pulls a massive bottle of wine and several pouches of cookies from her pouch. After very angrily attempting to open the bottle, she breaks the top off on a rock sitting nearby and takes a long swig from the bottle, then holds it out to Akon.
