A Valiant Return

Riddles, returning from his secret gnomish hiding place, which he refers to as his "stash house" walks back down the road towards Jastery, thinking about his poor niece, and how scared she was when the fairy tale came true. Who would have thought, a rampaging pumpkin showing up in Jastery, just like in the stories, magical candle and everything. Little Lylonna would be scared for ages, though hopefully the shiny items in his stash house would satisfy her and calm her for the time being, until she could finish using them to create her Anti-Pumpkin Defense-o-tron 3000. At least he could send her messages, and visit her if he had time to make the trek. He hung his head a bit, tired from the walk. He kicked a rock, and thought about the fight. He had ushered her to safety just in time, before the pumpkin had gotten her. She would probably never be the same, the poor little one. He looked up to see the tavern coming into view at a distance, and a spring was found in his step once again.

Another short figure is seen stumping up the road; pushing a cart. The smell of cinnamon and other autumn spices waft from the cart..  The gnome jumps up and down when he sees Uncle Riddles.
“Riddles, Riddles! Do you want some pie.” Tregard gestures to the cart’s contents. “ This is what you do with a rampaging pumpkin.”  The bard looks over the neurotinker’s  shoulders.
“Hey, where’s  Ly-Ly?”

Momentarily snapped out of his daze by the smell of pie, and a jumping Tregard, Riddles jumps with excitement:

"MR TRE TRE!" he screams, excited "YES YES, PIE FOR RIDDLES!" he says, happy to see a friendly face after so much walking. He pauses for a second after Tregard's comment.

"Eww eww! You made that nasty evil thing and you expect me to eat it?" he says, slightly revolted at the idea of putting something with evil magic into his perfectly round belly. "No no, that mustn't go into MY belly. But you said something about the Pumpkin being dead? Good news, good news, yes." he says, thinking for a moment.

"I must send mail to Lylonna, she was so devastatedly scared when that grumpy fellow showed up after that candle was put in the pumpkin, it was almost directly out of the old gnomish tales, that's for sure." he says, starting to answer the question asked of him. "She is in my cabin cabin, safe and sound, far from here. She is quite afraid, she refuses to come out until her Anti-Pumpkin Defense-o-tron 3000 is completed. After that she shall come back, yes yes. Until then, only I can find her, though she can certainly be reached by fairy mail." he says, trailing off due to fatigue and being out of breath from walking so much.

He starts to head to the tavern in the other direction. "Yes yes, it was certainly nice talking with you Mr. Tre Tre!" he says, waving to his gnomish friend with a smile on his face, hoping that he had not offended the short fellow by turning down the evil pumpkin pie.

Janos also happened to be walking down the road. His mask on the top of his head however instead of on his face. His skin was now a light shade of red and he had two nubbing horns hidden under his mask poking out of his hair, which for some reason was now much shorter. Even though it was cold he was still dressed as if it was the hight of summer.
He saw the gnomes chatting and decided to find out what he had missed over the past months. He called out to them. "Hello! " He called out as he picked up his pace a bit to catch up to them.
