RAW (Rules As Written), weapon-delivered Repel effects can be blocked just like any other weapon-delivered effect. However, I noticed a whole lot of people who legitimately blocked Repels taking the effect anyway. Which leads me to my question:
Do we want Repel to be an exception to the rule that weapon-delivered effects cannot be blocked?
Debate.
I agree that it makes semantic sense and isn't likely to be unbalanced. I'm happy to keep the debate open, but for the time being, the ruling will be that Repels cannot be blocked, regardless of their method of delivery.
Concerning what can stop you from being repelled, it's a short list. I agree with the suggestion that the repelled character must follow the path of least resistance. If there happens to be a tree in your way, it doesn't stop you. Likewise, other characters aren't barriers. A wall would, but if you came reasonably close to a doorway, you'd be expected to repel through the doorway.
Personally, Casey, I played a lot of monsters last event that could have had Repels, but I passed on them in favor of damage and Ruins. Dragon's Den marshals and plot members can always stipulate what things monsters can prepare, of course, and I'll probably be simplifying monster character sheets to remove the choice, anyway. So, I don't see tons of monsters loaded up with them unless that's just the flavor of the encounter.
These are just initial rulings. If anyone else has thoughts to share, please feel free.

I think the reason most of us were taking weapon delivered repels it like that is because it made sense to us that a repel is mostly the in-play result of a creature that is bigger and/or stronger than you literally SHOVING you aside. Which it pretty much seems to be.
Also, with the ruling that a repel takes you out of combat for the duration of you moving the distance without actually dealing damage, it is really not all that bad. Except of course for when you have to turn around and you are faced with an impassable wall of other players (or a real wall, etc.). I would like a ruling on whether there is a different between crowds and walls - for instance, if you are repelled and there is a two-row-thick line of other PCs in the way as you try to move, can you be repelled through them? Instinct says yes, but it does take longer to resolve the effect. Obviously if you are repelled into a wall or something, well, there you are.
If *lots* of stuff is going to have repels then I can see it being unbalanced, but if plot is careful about building their monsters so that repels are not attached to an overly large number of creatures, or so most things aren't just walking unlimited repels, I'd kind of prefer it to be unblockable.

I agree, if a golem shoves you with all it's strength your going backwards whether it shoved your body or your shield. so as long as we don't have goblins using weapon based repels then I think it should be unblockable
also we do need a ruling about whether people stop a repel or not.

I have to say that some of us (ahem, me) were also probably forgetting to counter the repels altogether. I'd walk 5 feet away and then think, shoot, I had a repel prepared!
New system, new chances to totally screw up the abilities that you yourself chose. :)
