Where's my blasted book?

A loud shout can be heard from upstairs in the mage tower.

"WHAT ARE YOU DOING IN MY BED YOU BLOODY GOBLIN!?!"

A loud crash is followed by another shout.

"AND WHERE IS MY BLASTED BOOK!?"

Astrum explodes out of the tower and stomps over to the demolished tavern.  Once inside he yells out.  "Who has my book?!"

He visits individual members around the tavern as he continues his tirade.  Getting uncomfortably close to each person, his voice not lowering in the least.

"It's a blue book, silvery runes?"  He traces invisible letters in the air to clarify leaving instantly vanishing firey swirls.

"Well?"

Akon stands before the whitehaired man, axe and sword in either hand, hair catching in the wind slightly as she blankly stares at him. "And why are you looking for such a thing....and who are you?" She asks, her voice level, and her stare hardening. Her eyes have a mild red burning to them, her voice a bit gruff, horns produde from her head, and if one were observant, a slight flick of a demonic black tail could be seen at her ankles. Her stance is steady, ready, not threatening, but not about to relax either.

"Who am I?"

"WHO AM I?"

"I am the one who stands in front of you quite obviously.  Do you think I'm someone else?  Has Jastrey gone MAD?  I was not gone that long!  Why do you have your beating sticks out?  and what on earth is growing out of you?  No matter."

He hops onto a ruined table quite lightly.

"Now WHERE is my book fire eyes?  I left it in my room and now there's a smelly goblin in their and no book.  Have the citizens here lost all respect?!"

Garith approaches and turns to Akon, “Please forgive him my lady. My name is Garith Gray and this is Astrum Farstep. We are citizens of this town. However, duty called us off around a year ago, but we have finally managed to find our way back, not with conjoined effort though” Garith says shooting a sharp glare at Astrum. “Get of the bloody table you fool! The book is right where we left it! Come now we have many things to sort out and your ranting isn’t furthering our cause at all.” Turning back to Akon Garith asks, “Tell me my good lady, where can I find Glimmer?”

Mig hears Astrum's questions well before he reaches the three talking. He answers while looking at the skeletal excuse for a tavern " You have not been gone that long but the town HAS gone mad in that time. It has become a feudal community of citizens killing  each other over treasures and empty personal gains. There are some new faces and ideals about to treat one another now. Instead of standing together, small groups now stab each other in the back." His eyes turn to Akon for a brief moment. " I see you both have met the new sheriff." He looks to Astrum and Garith. " How have you two been. I had hoped you would return one day and now hear you are. Despite your frustrations, today is a good day."

Astrum listens to Garith and then responds.

"If you're talking about the whole teleporting thing it was hardly my fault!  I didn't have time to walk, the blasted rabbit was rushing me.  You look like a ghost, clean the ash off of yourself you great dandy!  And besides, the book isn't where we left it.  I checked, there is an empty spot now filled with a goblin!  Go see for yourself!"

Astrum throws a half burned towel at Garith and turns to Mig.

"Ah Mig my friend, it has been some time.  I noticed things seemed a bit more shifty around here than normal.  It seems our departure was most untimely.  Do tell, have you seen my book?"

As the mage's tirade simmers down with the appearance of Garith, Taklinn looks on quietly to the ensuing talks.  Once it has died down a bit he walks forward chuckling.  "Look what the cat dragged in!  I had thought ye two may have gotten lost or met yer end.  Tis been a long year, to be sure.  Glimmer has left town on an errand, but should be back soonly I expect.  As fer yer other concerns, I would be happy to talk with ye and try to help ye sort things out, and to hear of yer adventures these past months."

Astrum turns towards the gruff voice and a smile splits his face.

"Well stout one, your's is a face I'm glad to see!  Me?  Meet my end?  Well it's attached to me, why on earth would I want to meet it?  Besides I can't turn that far.  Now, the adventure tales can wait.  Where is my book and what on earth happened to the tavern?"

"Well the more things chnage the more they stay the same, they say.  The tavern caught on fire and nearly burned to the ground a couple weeks ago.  How is that investigation going Sheriff?" he says to The Uordeq as if just noticing her.  As fer yer book, that is a bit of a story.  It was taken from its place and is now either in the library itself, as the Esper's now use it to train, or in the hands of the Sorcerer Wyndfere I believe.  As fer the tower, most everything is about the same.  I moved most of the training equipment back to the Warrior's Hall that the Silver Wings were using, it just made better sense and the people studying their books complained of all the racket."

"Ever the reliable dwarf.  I must ask another, I need to retrieve this book and return it to it's rightful place.  Can you assist me with this?"

Astrum asks.

"I may be able to help ye.  It is sometimes hard ta find people around here, but I should be able to help."

Akon's gaze has shifted during the conversation, giving a nod to Garith, seeming to have become much less defensive towards the returning members of town. "Well met." She says to Garith with a distracted nod. "We can aid you with issues with that book, but at the current moment we seem to have more pressing matters at hand." Akon's eyes have been scanning every tree and rock within the vinicity of the tavern. "Namely, what ever in damnation that was...." She says, pointing with the tip of her blade towards where the winged figure stood by the town post.

"Ah I knew I could count on you.  Not like this walking time bomb here!"  He gestures at Garith and hops off the table.

"Now thumb tak, lead onwards to my book.  There better be a good excuse waiting with whoever has it."
