Kresh sits in the tall grass and begins to think of the Legends of his people. The wind races past his face as he remembers the tale of the skin walkers. said to be able to change into the form of animals. having all there strength and there burning anger. Kreshs father use to tell him that only the greatest, bravest, and most savage men could live through the havac it had on the body.
Kresh opens his eyes...... "I AM STRONG ENOUGH FOR ANY CHANGE ON MY BODY!!!! i must find a skin walker"
"Leofrick my friend..... your telling me they are not just legends that my father told me to make me want..." Kresh looks off into the open sky. "how would you suggest i move on with this?"
Kresh picks up his axe. "I know only how 2 kill..... not hunt. I wish i knew how to start."
"it is not simple Kresh, A skin walker is different than any lycanthrope, even me. I'm only in partial control of my inner beast. A skin walker although can be in complete control of it's animal nature. Think of it this way, a body of a bear, with the mind of a wizard inside the skull of the beast in question."
Matilda came walkin up through the field from the direction of the burning pyre that was sending a mushroom of smoke into the sky. She was cleaning off her hands of the blood from the Sons she was searching. She looked on ahead to see two familiar faces. "You two here to watch the pyre?" she raised her voice just enough to be heard as she came up on them, giving a polite nod to Kresh while putting away the cloth she was cleanin her hands with.
"matilda please come and join us. Leofrick i dont have the mind of a "wizard" friend im just a simple man. As for the mind of a beast most people think that about me anyway." Kresh lets out a rare chuckle. "" what about just becoming a bear and learning to control the inner rage"
when seeing Matilda, now closer, covered in blood Kresh jumps to his feet with a smile on his face....."where is the battle, girl?"
"but still Kresh, these people are the best at hiding themselves, you know who is a skinwalker, you have to know what scent they give off if you dont know them by sight." Leofrick flips to the next page, and begins to read the chapter of lycanthropes. "And besides, you will have to travel to another shard possibly, because i havent smelled one on this shard in a long time. Unless one happens to land on our shores anytime soon." Leofrick looks over to the two next to him. "besides, after night falls a skinwalker is the least of you concerns in Jastrey, for the wolf knows his way around here more than you know."
The homunculus shakes her head. "No where, just taking care of the Sons left over from the earlier battle. Doing a bit of clean up," she said with a slightly giggle. She sat cross legged a few feet from her fellow Bears. She looked to Leofrick then to her chief. "What have you two been up to?" Matilda asked fiddling with the edge of her skirt where it became slightly frayed.
talking to Matilda " Ive been having thought about my life before the bears. i was remembering the legends of my people and now i know one of them to be a fact"
turning his head to Leo. "You are a good man Leofrick, and i know what its like to fight the rage inside of ones self, you more so then me, and i thank you for looking out for me and the rest of the bears" "I will travel were ever i need to to become one with the bear"
Turning yet again to Matilda "Get the word out to all the bears to stay indoors when night falls."
pulling Leofrick to the side "I need to know everything you can teach me on these.... what where they called.......? "Lycanthropes""
Matilda nodded as she stood up, brushing off her skirt. "Shall we all be in one location or to seek shelter wherever we can find it?" She asked, getting to walk back to the pyre to see if she could find the other bears there. Her hand rested on her daggers for her trip back, she learned one can not be too careful when alone.
"Even though the paladins have left me laying on the ground like lame dog. I'm still a good person, its just my animal side tends to show itself more than i'd like it to. But Lycanthropes and the skinwalkers are a lesson for another time Kresh." leofrick closes his book and places it back into his pouch. "Even a man who is pure of heart, who says his prayers by night, may become a wolf. when the wolfsbane blooms, and the Autumn moon shines bright." Leofrick looks to kresh. "a poem from the good people of Glesmyr, the Ulf king, Bjorn von Wolfborn, my clan uncle. He was able to control his changes and could use the power to protect his people and his lands from invasions."
"Bjorn von Wolfborn...... you say he can control his changes..... just the man i need to see"
Kresh puts his axe back to the ground. Kresh seems lost in thought.
-"but am i really strong enough.... i know i have much rage in my heart..... how will i ever know unless i try." He thinks to himself.......-
(OOP Note: I'm not sure where this is coming from, but nothing about "skinwalkers" is canon. If it was part of a previous plot line, that plot line was not discussed with me or Nick. Leo is free to state it as factually as he cares to, but that doesn't mean skinwalkers are a thing. Lay on.)
"Skin Walkers huh? You are looking for something hard to find Kresh." A form of a wolf consiting of blue light appears next to kresh, shaping into the ragged form of Leofrick. Pulling out his journal of monsters, he flips to a ragged page. " A Skin Walker, a man or woman who can change their form to an animal of their choice. To be able to transform, legends say that you must possess a pelt of the animal." Leofrick loos over to Kresh. 'These things are rare, even more rare than what made me what I am Kresh, i've only seen one in my lifetime and that was from a distance."
