Effects

Effects define what abilities do. The level of an ability is determined first by its effect, then adjusted by any modifiers. Combat abilities are further adjusted by their triggers.

Carry 1 Passive, Proficiency

You can Carry an incapacitated, Subdued, or Slain character. This is identical to the Drag assumed ability except you are not Slowed.

Preserve 1 Passive, Proficiency

You Preserve a downed character, pausing the time until they are left to their Fate as long as you are in contact with them. You may Preserve up to one character at a time per free, unmaimed hand. A character may not be Dragged or Carried by anyone while being Preserved. This has no effect if the target is not Subdued or Slain.

Use Armor 1 1 Passive, Proficiency

You are able to wear one point worth of Armor. This does not stack with the passive Armor Effect; if you gain one while wearing Armor, you only count the higher of the two.

Use Armor 2 2 Passive, Proficiency

You are able to wear two points worth of Armor. This does not stack with the passive Armor Effect; if you gain one while wearing Armor, you only count the higher of the two.

Use Armor 3 3 Passive, Proficiency

You are able to wear three points worth of Armor. This does not stack with the passive Armor Effect; if you gain one while wearing Armor, you only count the higher of the two.

Use Armor 4 4 Passive, Proficiency

You are able to wear four points worth of Armor. This does not stack with the passive Armor Effect; if you gain one while wearing Armor, you only count the higher of the two.

Use Duelist Style 1 Passive, Proficiency

You are able to treat a Medium Weapon as Light if you wield nothing, or an Unarmed Attack, in your off hand.

Use Dust 1 Passive, Proficiency

You are able to use supplies with the Dust trigger.

Use Heavy Shield 2 Passive, Proficiency

You are able to use Light and Heavy Shields. Heavy Shields are represented by boffer props that can be up to one half your height in length and up to one third your height in width.

Use Heavy Weapon 1 Passive, Proficiency, Basic Attack

You are able to use Heavy Weapons and Great Weapons in melee. Heavy Weapons must be wielded in two hands and are represented by boffer props that must be longer than a Medium Weapon and no longer than your full arm span. Great Weapons are longer than a Heavy Weapon by up to one handspan. Great Weapons count as Heavy Weapons for rule purposes. However, they require a widened grip and cannot be wielded from the ends for safety reasons.

Use Instrument 2 Passive, Proficiency

You are able to use Instruments, which must be boffer-safe and shaped like musical instruments. An Instrument functions as a melee Weapon of its size, so you can use it to attack in melee if you have the appropriate Proficiency, but it always requires two hands to use regardless of size and counts as your body when used to Block. While wielding an Instrument, you may freely add the Burst Modifier to any Spoken ability.

Use Light Shield 1 Passive, Proficiency

You are able to use Light Shields. Light Shields are represented by boffer props that may not be more than one third your height in length or width.

Use Light Weapon 1 Passive, Proficiency, Basic Attack

You are able to use Light Weapons in melee. Light Weapons must be wielded in one hand and are represented by boffer props that cannot be shorter than the distance between your wrist and elbow or longer than the distance between your fingertip and shoulder, though certain abilities may allow you to treat other Weapons as Light.

Use Medicine 1 Passive, Proficiency

You are able to use supplies with the Medicine trigger.

Use Medium Weapon 1 Passive, Proficiency, Basic Attack

You are able to use Medium Weapons in melee. Medium Weapons may be wielded in one or two hands. Medium Weapons are represented by boffer props that must be longer than Light Weapons and no longer than the distance between your opposite shoulder joint and your outstretched fingertip.

Use Melee Weapon 2 Passive, Proficiency, Basic Attack

You are able to use Light, MediumHeavy and Great Weapons in melee.

Use Off-Hand Weapon 1 Passive, Proficiency

You are able to use a second Weapon in your off hand.

Use Poison 1 Passive, Proficiency

You are able to use supplies with the Poison trigger.

Use Projectile Weapon 2 Passive, Proficiency, Basic Attack

As Use Ranged, and you are able to use Projectile Weapons, including bows, crossbows, and firearms. A Projectile Weapon functions as a melee Weapon of its size, so you can use it to attack in melee if you have the appropriate Proficiency. In addition, you can use a Projectile Weapon to deliver Packet and Ranged attacks in melee, and may freely add the Pierce Damage Type or apply the Pierce Modifier to any Packet or Ranged Trigger packet while wielding it.

Use Ranged 1 Passive, Proficiency, Basic Attack

You are able to use abilities with the Ranged Trigger and can perform basic attacks with packets using the Ranged Trigger, representing small thrown weapons such as axes, daggers, or stones.
