Race: Dragon
Domains: Fealty, Grace, Void
Ethos
Grace is given to all; it is neither earned nor avoided as all are pulled by the void. Let generosity be silent, but the absence of grace be immeasurable. Know, the greatest of graces is another's burden laid upon you by the oaths they swear.
Fealty sworn is absolute; it is immalleable and final as fealty keeps the void at bay. Heavy is the crown called leadership, but virtuous are the bound. Serve dutifully and give everything, for the fall is great for those who break their oaths.
The Voidkeeper presents itself as a great crystalline dragon that reflects the reality around it. One’s view of reality will crack and skew along invisible ley lines like a shattered mirror as the head of Ur, manifests in view.
History/Relationships
Tredenworth Dwade Ulara, the second child of Tredenworth Alaion of the Circle of Thirteen, was born for the sole purpose of fulfilling his father’s desire to be free from the Circle. The Zmajite child was quickly ferried away from harm by his loving Sister Charra Ulara, first child of Tredenworth Alaion. She used her prowess in Esprice to conceal Dwade’s identity and transform him into Faro’oq , giving him a life unstained by the blood of the Circle. As Faro’oq Ishbar he was an Ixifar trained in the Theurgic magicks and quickly excelled as a healer. His capacity for compassion led him to seek out a group of travelers whose town, he had heard, was seized by an evil mage, and so Faro’oq found his way to Jastrey where he stayed, making friends and family. One winter the magic concealing him failed, and soon Faro’oq found himself alone in the woods of Jastrey with no memory of either of his past lives. He found his way back into town where discovered a brood of faces he did not know and was soon found by his father who called him back to Glesmyr.
Over the following years, Faro’oq served as his father’s lancer carrying out his plan for conquest. He ingratiated himself with the other Circle members, won their favor, and learned they had been manipulated for years: Tredenworth Lorboubella Broadbraids had used her mastery of Esprice to erase the memories of the other Tredenworthy to keep them compliant. Faro’oq found himself swearing to serve the Tredenarch and protect the Circle as he had been told “The Circle must not break”. Under the Tredenarch’s guidance he journeyed far and wide to bring home those members lost after an event known as the Decade Long Solstice.
While traveling, Faro’oq encountered a group claiming to be his Sister’s brood. She had been lost to them. The ever-heroic, Ego Andante, beseeched Faro’oq for his help in finding her, and out of compassion for his sister he agreed. He unraveled the secrets of her disappearance finding her lost in the Void. Through his faith in his patron Aldrhunrik, Faro’oq returned all of them safely from the darkness, but something of himself and Charra never fully returned.
Years of planning and work came to a head when Tredenworth Lahminn attacked and killed Tredenworth Itswa, breaking the Circle. The Tredenarch gave her life to give the remaining Tredenworthy a chance to save the world as the anomaly held back by the Circle attempted to pull everything into the void. Faro’oq took up the mantle of Tredenworth Dwade Ulara, replacing the once-Tredenworth Yolanthe and worked to repel Lahminn’s forces. The Circle struggled, seeking to contain the anomaly once again, but something called to Dwade from the anomaly. Using his connection to the void, Dwade consumed it, containing the power that threatened to expand and destroy the world. Ur emerged from the scar left behind, granting Tredenworth Alaion’s wish for freedom.
~ Biography as written by the Consort of the Tredenarch of Glesmyr
Voidkeeper’s relationships with other immortals are dictated based on four oaths made. As such, Aethos, Aldrhunrik, Fiammafede, and Istensia receive unyielding loyalty. As an Immortal of Order, Ur stands opposed to Immortals of Chaos. The Voidkeeper has also expressed irritation with Khulzan and Kagiminari and seems to dislike both Kelvaros and Vipinbehari on a fundamental level. Among the draconic immortals, Ur remains neutral unless needed to settle an argument. The Voidkeeper otherwise avoids conflict with other immortals if not directly challenged or invoked.
Dogma
As Ur sleeps awaiting a follower, its specific dogma is unknown at this time.
Followers and Temples
“I will not appoint a First, but should someone take the initiative to seek me out later and swear fealty to me, I will accept them as my first true follower. Otherwise, I will be ever present and available for those who swear fealty to another and do not break their oaths.”
Those who follow the Void Keeper are known as Graced and will often take up an oath of fealty that reflect one of the oaths Dwade Ulara held:
- Oath of Blood: “I swear to keep your family as my own even should your light leave this world.”
- Oath of Dogma: “I swear to follow that which is decreed. May those words be the only air I breathe.”
- Oath of Void: “I swear to pull those who have ventured beyond their limits back. Even at the cost of becoming nothing.”
- Oath of Twilight: “Let me be bound ‘til death to fell those who break their oaths. For fealty ends only at oblivion.”
Shrines to Ur are representations of one’s oath and, as such, are deeply personal, but often go unnoticed.
The one exception is a crater in Glesmyr. There in the center, there is a grove whose trees are sturdy and blue. A shrine to the Voidkeeper can be found within its sanctuary.
Noteworthy Followers
- Harbingers – The Harbingers are a group of warriors and assassins who have taken up the Oath of Twilight to hunt those who break their oaths and deliver them to oblivion. There is no trial as judgment is rendered solely upon failure to uphold an oath. They hunt following the strict confines of the law of the land, but have been known to drag once-paladins to Glesmyr or other lawless lands to execute them. They are only known to stay their hand should transgressions be amended and the oath restored, but even with forgiveness, if they set their sights on someone, they never forget
- Nihilimancers of Glesmyr – In the wintery wastes of Glesmyr, there is a castle home to a group of sages that follow in the wake of the Ulara siblings. They study and train to contain the power of the void itself. The process drives many insane, and others who succeed are forever changed by the magic.
- The Void Singer – There exists a pink diabolus who wanders the world singing maddening songs of the void. It is said any who listen fall into a deep slumber and awaken the next day with more questions than answers.
