Golem

Submitted by Orn P. on Thu, 1/12/2017 at 1:17am

Golems have been a part of Orn for nearly as long as magic has been mastered by living beings. The art of golemancy was truly mastered during the time of the Company of Seven, when Imphalios used his understanding of golemancy to create a legion of stone soldiers to fight the pressing darkness of an undead horde and to build the city of Thaedmore. Throughout time however, golems and other constructs have been made to guard ancient holds, help doddling mages, and fight in wars too cruel for the living.

Gnome

Gnomes value talent and innovation.  Like their Dwarfish cousins, they are skilled craftspeople, but they have expanded the concept of "craft" to include some new and fascinating areas.  Gnomes are entranced by anything new.  They love to experiment with ways of doing things.  Gnomes are compulsive problem solvers with a genuine desire to fix anything they find to be broken.  One of the highest compliments one Gnome can give to another is to call him or her "clever".

Denizens of the mountain halls, dwarves are a stout but proud race renowned for their hardy constitutions as well as their skill with steel. Although they tend to come across as surly to surface-dwellers, their ties to the other civilized races of Orn run as ancient and deep as the mountains themselves.

As a race that was created by a combination of cats and magic, the Mau are wild creatures of instinct struggling to get by in a civilized world. They are humanoid in appearance with the following feline features: tails, claws, pointed teeth, ears, a slightly elongated face, and a body completely covered in fur.  With their natural inclination towards stealth and a free-spirited nature, they make for excellent thieves and assassins.

Graefward, old common for grave ward, sometimes known as child of the dead. Viewed as monsters the world over, a select few acquire sentience or a mind of their own detaching them from whatever power, being, or reason that raised them from the dead. For the most part, they act like normal living beings aside from their dead or decaying look and desire to regain the living flesh they once had.

Submitted by Thad (He/Him) on Sat, 1/7/2017 at 10:21pm

Also known as the startouched, the first empyreans were said to be human wizards who attained magical transcendence by harnessing unknown cosmic forces. So strong was their connection to the heavens that it has passed down to all of their progeny through the generations. This bond imparts them with an innate capacity for magic as well as an exceptionally long lifespan, while at the same time making them extremely sensitive to cosmic events.
